Event Info:

In this two part workshop, you will learn how to take better photos with your smart phone and get the lowdown on promoting yourself on Instagram.

The morning’s session with Sarah Weston will look at smart phone tips and tricks to create stand out photography of your work which can be employed across online selling platforms, grant applications, media and communications. Sarah will cover editing images specifically in the iPhone Photos app, however she will also look at different third party apps which are available on both iPhone and Android systems.

In the afternoon, Annelies Hofmyr will guide you through some proven Instagram strategies to build your brand and discuss ways to maximise Instagram’s algorithm (i.e. get more followers!).

  • 2-3 pieces of your work
  • Your fully charged iphone/smartphone with an Instagram account already set up.
  • A notebook, pen and your imagination.

Sarah Weston is a writer, art consultant and Craft’s Retail and Development Manager. She works across retail and development, curatorial programming, social media, commissioning, and digital platforms. Sarah has worked to create an integrated and specific approach for craft practitioners to document their work, support narrative-driven practice and build their business. This workshop is regularly presented at Craft’s Sell-Out Photography Workshop.

Annelies Hofmeyr is a jeweller and conceptual artist and the brains behind @trophywifebarbie and @twbloves (300K+ joint followers on Instagram). Annelies is currently working in the Project Space at Northcity4 and she’s keen to share the Instagram strategies she implements to engage various audiences.

Northcity4 is located at 61 Weston St, Brunswick. Workshop entrance is via the side path on the Eastern side of the building. Northcity4 is easily accessible via public transport; the #1, #8 & #19 trams stop nearby and we are close to Jewel station on the Upfield line. There is ample bike parking out the front. Car parking on the street is limited and timed but the Barkly Square carpark is just across the road.

Our courses are suitable for students who are 16 years or older, unless specified in the class description. Some of our courses require prior learning, please check the course description thoroughly before enrolling.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds if you are unable to attend your course. If you want to transfer to a course at a later date, we require you to give us at least four working days’ notice prior to the start date of your course. No transfers or credit notes will be issued for withdrawals when less than four working days’ notice is given.
